Vinyasa yoga or Flow is a dynamic sequence of yoga poses and one of the more popular styles here in the United States. It involves synchronizing the breath with a continuous flow of postures. Vinyasa Yoga can be considered a challenge. The routines are often vigorous and can be demanding while producing a lot of strength and stamina.
The steady and continuous flow of postures builds internal heat, which can help to detoxify the body. This style of yoga is a bit more fast-paced and athletic than Hatha. This strength building approach can help to improve cardiovascular and respiratory health as well as increase bone density. Many practitioners also discover reduced stress and improved sleep.
In addition, the constant and continual awareness of the breath while you move through the poses calms the mind and increases focus leading to overall energy healing. Vinyasa is often called a "moving meditation". Many practitioners discover that the ability to "flow" through a challenging yoga class has benefits on and off the mat.
