What is Yin/Restorative Yoga:

There really isn't much difference between Yin and Restorative. During Yin each posture is normally done down on the floor, (but may also include some standing poses.) A lot of props such as pillows, blocks, bolsters, etc. can be used to help support the body in each pose which can last anywhere from 3-5 minutes, but depending on the focus of the class or the teacher can be a little more challenging with fewer props. Restorative Yoga is where the entire class is done down on the mat and the body is completely supported and comfortable with the use of props.

In a nutshell, it is taking the universal energy (whether it be a Reiki practitioner or self-Reiki) that surrounds all of us and of which we have infinite availability and using that to our physiological and energetic advantage. Mixing Reiki healing with yin yoga has unending benefits. There really isn't anything I can think of that this practice would not be good for. A lot of people who have chronic injuries will seek out both Restorative yoga and Reiki individually, as well as those who are suffering from stress, anxiety, and depression, and everything in-between. Bringing the two practices together can spark a substantially profound healing effect in the body, mind, and spirit.
